Top Wedding Destinations

April 19th, 2008

There are numerous theme and destinations all over the world to find a great ideal wedding location. This may incorporate theme weddings, romantic castle weddings, cruise weddings, and fairy tale wedding. The wedding theme is according to the couple’s taste and financial strings. While some enjoy extravagance, some also find pleasure in simple and intimate weddings. As some go for luxury weddings, some other people enjoy a casual themed wedding.

Did you ever wonder of a perfect setting for your special day? It can range from just a simple intimate inn in the upstate of New York to a chateau in France, an artsy museum in San Francisco for your world wind romance. Here listed below are the top 10 locations of the most romantic wedding destinations that could be found on earth and not just a figment of your imagination. Prepare yourself to be breathtakingly carried away.

1) Legion of Honor San Francisco

It has a beautiful view of Golden Gate Bridge and the city of San Francisco, and the Bay. There is also a remarkable art and architecture at the Palace of the Legion of Honor is simple just an amazing place to get hitched. Every time you would step in there, whether for a wedding simply just to unwind, it’ll make you fall dumbfounded with the nature that surrounds you.

2) Central Park, New York

This place is simply beautiful in all season. This place is filled with flowers, formal gardens, intimate grottos and fountains, that is all in the heart of a bustling city.

3) Columbia Gorge Hotel, Hood River

A place situated in Oregon between Hood and Columbia Rivers that is atop a 208 foot waterfall, this is a country hotel that just features an amazing panoramic view, had excellent food, very charming hospitable service and comfortable accommodations.

4) Longfellow’s Wayside Inn, Sudbury, MA

For a very private and memorable wedding, this place had been very sought after as a historic inn and an idyllic spot. It has a chapel, antique furniture, charm to spare, gourmet food and a beautiful area for you to tie the knot.

5) Chicago Botanic Gardens, Chicago

It is a place that is considered to be one of the top botanical gardens in the country and it is found in Chicago. Chicago Botanic Garden has a lot of wedding spots to offer. The no. 1 of all the spots based on my personal opinion would be is the Rose Terrace. Your wedding guests will be enjoying themselves on an intimate terrace outside with the fragrance of the flowers will just fill the place.

6) Le Chateau d’Esclimont, France

This is a charming estate that can be located just 45 minutes outside of Paris and is not far from Versailles. The chateau is situated on an enchanting lake that is amid a 150 acre estate where the guest could either ride a horse, fish and more.

7) Wave Hill, New York

The historic estate has a pleasant view of the Palisades and Hudson River. Have your wedding inside a garden, then move a cocktail reception on the terrace where there could be dancing and dining in the Armor Room with its cathedral windows and vaulted ceiling.

8) Inverlochy Castle, Fort William Scotland

There is a reason why some of the celebrities like Paul McCartney, Madonna, Pierce Brosnan wanted to get married in a castle, cause when you’re here, you can’t help but to feel that you are like royalty. Of all the castles, this castle is the best Scottish castle. When Queen Voctoria spent a week at Inverlocky in 1873 she wrote, “I never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot.” Inverlochy castle is situated on the glens and lochs of West Higland Scotland where you can enjoy a gourmet cuisine, a period décor and more.

9) A white sand beach on Mauritius, Indian Ocean

Do you ever imagine yourself getting married on a white sand beach within an island that is in the middle of the Indian Ocean. There will be an air-conditioned private bungalow with a five star luxury service. If it sounds like heaven to you, it is Mauritius.

10) Marriage Island

In San Antnio’s Riverwalk where it’s renowned for a picturesque colonial architecture of beautiful trees and lovely scenery, there is a place that is specially romantic in December, when all the trees have been decorated with 100,000 twinkling lights. This island that is located at the middle of the river is a favorite spot for weddings, and has been affectionately dubbed as “Marriage Island”. After your wedding you can enjoy a boat ride down the river.

How to Find A Winnipeg Caterer

March 27th, 2008

Finding a caterer in Winnipeg is not hard. However finding one who is available for your chosen date might be a little more difficult. Finding a caterer that will work with you and has the ability to change to your needs as they unfold may be another story.

When you are looking for a caterer ask lots of questions, there are no “stupid” questions. You must feel comfortable with whomever you are doing business with.

!. Choose someone who is not overbooked for your wedding day. It is not uncommon for caterers to have multiple functions on a given day. Pick someone with no more than one or two bookings. No matter how big the company, the more functions the more logistic problems that can arise.

2. Pick a caterer that you have heard good reviews about, such as from friends or family.

3. Choosing someone, because they are the only company that you can think of may not be enough of an endorsement.

4.Choose a caterer that can address your requirements. All caterer do not do outside weddings for example or have limits on there ability to travel outside of city limits.

5. Remember that you are the boss, not them. Choose a caterer that does not have an “attitude”.

6. Pick a caterer that is upfront about pricing, includes everything in one price, and does not try to surprise you with last minute additions.

Assess Your Stress

March 25th, 2008

You’re in the midst of a serious floral glitch- the tulips you want in your bouquet are the victims of a global epidemic. There are no tulips ANYWHERE! Your reaction is to:

A. Burst into tears and take it as a sign that the day of your dreams is as doomed as those darn tulips.

B. Have a minor meltdown because you really, really wanted tulips! After a few hours of pouting, you choose another flower.

C. Take the florists advice and go with freesia instead because it looks similar and the fragrance is absolutely intoxicating.

Your aunt and her daughter aren’t speaking to each other the week before the wedding. Both threaten not to come. You.

A. Have fits of weepiness whenever you think about it.

B. Delegate the matter to your mother ( you have enough to worry about) but curse them when you’re rearranging the seating plan.
C. Tell them you’d love to have them there and ask them to let you know if they plan to come at least three days before the wedding so you have a chance to give your caterer an accurate head count.
You and your groom have agreed that he would plan the honeymoon, but so far no hotels or tickets have been booked. Your response when he says he’ll get to it “sometime” is:
A. ” I never should have let you! Why did I agree to marry you?”
B. ” I’m a little worried. I thought you were going to do it last week. Is there a problem?”
C. ” Great! Thanks for taking care of that, honey. I really appreciate your help.”

Choosing A Wedding Venue

March 16th, 2008

Choosing a wedding venue can seem pretty straight forward. It can be if you have done your homework. It can range anywhere from a community hockey arena to a five star hotel. Your personal taste and budget will be the determining factor.

With a little of help and soft lighting any area can be transformed into a wedding reception venue. A lot of places offer a lot of open dates to book your facility, so that booking can be done with little forward planning. A hotel will require a lot more lead time up to your wedding day, at least 12 to 18 months in advance.

When checking out venues for your wedding make sure you know what is included. A lot of community centers have banquet tables only and maybe only ugly plastic chairs which may be fine with you, or you may have to rent tables and chairs that you are responsible to arrange and pay for. That great deal may not be as great as you thought.

Hotels offer full service and can do everything for you, but at a high cost.

Sometimes leaving the city and going to a rural venue can be an option, Prices are acceptable, their are more open dates, and it might be a refreshing change from the usual wedding choices. Your guests might enjoy a country wedding that is located in a quiet location. Parking is never a problem! And remember, the same services can be offered as in a more traditional setting.

I am Vernon Cole of King Cole Catering and Banquet Centre and we offer a first class facility with superior service.

Selecting A Caterer

March 14th, 2008

Picking a caterer seems to be a bit of a gamble sometimes. Get to know your prospective caterer early on by talking and meeting with them to get a feel for their interest in your wedding and being able to accommodate your needs. What you need to do to choose a caterer!

1. Interview three caterers to access their helpfulness. Wedding day can be a stressful time, so you want to work with someone with whom you trust can adapt to some change at the reception,(some extra guests arrive that did not confirm they would attend.)

2. If you’re wedding is in the prime wedding months of spring, summer and fall, book early, 12 months in advance.

3. A well known caterer is not necessarily the best choice, they are usually so busy or so over booked, they may not be able to give you the quality that you are expecting.

4. Choose a caterer that you have a good feeling for, usually after your first meeting. Ask for references, and ask your friends their experiences.

5. While price is important, pick someone with whom you trust will do exactly what you want for your wedding reception. What you are looking for is value (not the cheapest.) This is your special day; you don’t want to be upset with your caterer.

6. Pick a caterer that includes everything in their pricing (no extra charges.) What seemed like a good deal ended up costing you more than you realized. Honest pricing is the best.

7. Pick a caterer that will be available to discuss with you questions that you have or changes that you wish to make, menu or program changes. You want someone who is timely with returning your calls or e-mails.

8. I can not emphasize enough the importance of good references. If someone else had a good experience, you will as well.

9. Communication is an important factor to success. Each party knows what to expect from each other.

10. Choose a caterer that you feel comfortable with and takes a professional approach to working with you, not someone that tells you what you need.

Party Time

March 13th, 2008

Make your party an event to remember by combining imagination, sentiment and spirit with plenty of careful tried and true planning

Finding the place

The first big decision is selecting a location. The range of options for a wedding reception is surprisingly wide-you can choose sites that reflect your personality and enhance the tone and style of your wedding celebration. Hotels, banquet halls and convention facilities are classic choices, offering grand entrances, large-scale decorations and the luxury of space for a large number of wedding guests.

Most cities and towns also offer unconventional locations. Use your imagination to discover something a little out of the ordinary. A shared interest or hobby (maybe what attracted you to each other in the first place) might be a great source of inspiration. For instance, if you are campers or nature lovers, hold your reception outdoors at a city or provincial park; if you love art, try a gallery or a museum; if you ski, book a lodge. A limited budget shouldn’t put a damper on your party plans. Couples with a little cash and lots of heart could host their wedding receptions at congregation halls, community centers or, of course, at home. When you’re not sure whether reception services are offered at a particular location, it never hurts to ask. You may wind up setting a trend.

Put On Your Happy Face

February 15th, 2008

Let’s face it, you won’t always get what you want. No matter how fantastic your friends and family are, there will always be the possibility of an inapppropriate party theme or the friend that brings the Gastly Gift. Never fear, you just need to hone those acting skills. Stand in front of the mirror, feign total excitement, flash your broadest smiles and say”Thank you this ceramic lavalamp is just what I need.” Remember, when your long-lost high school pal Sal veers off your registry list and gives you a handwooven basket covered with fake ivy and filled with gourds from her own garden, you can’t pout like you used to whenSanta didn’t bring the Christmas gifts you wanted. Put on that cheery smile you’ve been practicing and act like the gracious Bride-to be that you are.

Laughter Is The Best Medicine

Keep your sence of humour at all times! This is the most important rule for the bride-to-be. If you laugh your way through even the most awkward moments, not only are you guaranteed some great memories, but everyone else will have fun ,too. Besides, when your maid of honour brings out the slide show with your spiral perm, acid washed jeans and kelly-green suede pixie boots, you can have a giggle of relief that at least you’re not committing those fashion crimes now.

Remember, your friends and family organized these parties to shower you with pretty and useful items for your new adventure, and to shower you with their very best wishes for the journey you about to begin as a Mrs. So even though the gifts may not be to your tastes and the games may be silly, be gracious that these wonderful women are in your life and care enough to celebrate your next chapter. With a smile on your face, make sure to express your appreciation to everyone involved-especially your bridesmaids.

At the end of the day, these showers are being held for you, because people love you, so even if you are wearing a hat made of ribbons, have a few laughs and let down your hair. This is a time to let go of your stress for a few hours. Let yourself be in the spotlight and have some fun. With a sense of humour, you’ll be laughing all the way to the bottom of the gift registry.
